Recently the governing body of Jehovah’s Witnesses announced a policy change that has had serious consequences for loyal witnesses in the past. While the change is commendable, it is disturbing that there appears to be no acceptance of responsibility for the harm the previous teaching caused and no mention of any apology. Also, while mentioning biblical support for the change, it is not mentioned that there was also claimed biblical support for the previous position. This raises the question as to whether their ability to interpret scripture and give helpful advice can be completely trusted.

All the circumstantial evidence points to the legal ($$$) threats as the reason for the changes. Look into the Heather Winchester case in Australia also.
WT/GB have never changed doctrines unless they are threatened with legal, monetary or loss of membership issues.
Why did disfellowshipping get modified? Norway was pushing against them which could have set a precedent for other governments.
