Recently the Watchtower organization uploaded a morning worship talk by governing body member Stephen Lett entitled: “Jehovah Alone is Wise”. While I agree with the title and the scripture he uses, I do not agree with his premise that following the direction given by the organization equates to following Jehovah.
It amazes me that he can even claim this since the governing body openly admits that it is neither inspired nor infallible and is capable of erring in doctrinal matters and organizational direction.
The talk presents two examples of Jehovah’s wisdom. The first is the two witness rule. While under the law, this served to protect the innocent from being falsely accused. But the organization misapplies this when it comes to handling cases of child abuse, which in many cases has served to protect the abuser, causing great harm to victims.
The second example is to obey those taking the lead. But the Bible never authorizes absolute unquestioning obedience to any human leader. Elders are not infallible. So, obedience to those taking the lead only refers to trusting in them as long as what they direct is not in conflict with what God requires.
One reply on “They Have Rejected Jehovah-What Wisdom Do They Have?”
Once again you have used both Biblical thoughts and logic to point to the errors in their teachings.
As a multiple year PIMO (I don’t want to lose family and friends), I thank you for your efforts.
