The governing body of Jehovah’s Witnesses claims to have been appointed by Jesus in 1919 to explain the Bible for Christians and help them grow in understanding of the truth. However, they have been making changes to their doctrines since 1870. This is explained using Proverbs 4:18 as the light getting brighter. However, that scripture is speaking of the course of a righteous person as he applies Bible principles to his life. It is not to be used as an excuse to explain away the doctrinal changes of a 21st century religious group. Although referred to as clarifications, many of their teachings have reverted back to previous understandings.
